“You can do something or you can do nothing. If you do nothing, you get nothing.” David Cottrell

Wash Away No More gathers diverse voices of North Cove residents and folks committed to preserving our beach. We support experimentation with low cost, locally sourced, nature based solutions to fight 100 years of shoreline erosion.

We have raised funds and public awareness through education events, bake sales, and craft product sales. Wash Away No More works in conjunction with several local entities including:

Pacific Conservation District

Pacific County Drainage District #1

Pacific County Commissioners

North Cove is a small rural community shaped by isolation, self sufficiency, and the need to keep sort of dry. Years of shoreline erosion has inspired the ingenuity and stewardship of some pretty resourceful people.

Coast-Cameras-Action

Coasts – Cameras – Action is a research partnership between UW scientists and community groups Wash Away No More and Willapa Erosion Control Action Now (WECAN). We have created specialized photo stations for the community to help monitor beach erosion.

ASBPA Announces 2024 Best Restored Beaches

The North Cove Coastal Systems Restoration in North Cove, Washington was selected as a Best Restored beach demonstrating a long-term commitment by the North Cove community to protect their beach. The project's primary objective was to reverse chronic and rapid shoreline erosion ongoing for over a century and to enhance coastal resilience to storms and climate impacts. The project, using natural materials and a nature-based approach, has stabilized and restored 1.1 miles of shoreline along the north entrance to Willapa Bay in Pacific County, Washington.
